Makowski Chosen Liberty League Performer of the Week

Junior Ryan Makowski of the Clarkson University Golf team won the St. Lawrence Fall Invitational for the second straight season, and that performance helped him claim the Liberty League Performer of the Week when the conference office announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon.

Clarkson and Makowski actually had three competitive rounds this past week, first in a home invitational and then down the road in Canton. Makowski averaged 72.33 strokes per 18 holes, shooting a 74 on Wednesday to tie for fifth among 39 golfers. He then followed that up with a 70 and 73 (143 total) to win the St. Lawrence Invitational by two strokes.

Makowski has been particularly outstanding in Canton over his three seasons with the Golden Knights. In six competitive rounds, he has averaged 72.83 strokes at Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course, shooting 73 or better on five occasions, including two rounds under par. As a freshman, he finished tied for fourth among 54 golfers. A year later he won the event with 58 entrants, and this year he was the top scorer out of 70 competitors.
