Canton, NY – Conquering the field for a second straight year, junior Ryan Makowski of the Clarkson University Golf team won the St. Lawrence Fall Golf Invitational on Sunday afternoon at the par-72, 6698-yard Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course.

Led by Makowski, the Golden Knights topped the team competition as well, shaving three strokes off their total from the previous day and winning the event going away, claiming the title at +23 (599 strokes). St. Lawrence was second (609) and Hobart third (611). Clarkson's 'B' squad ended up with a score of 649, taking 17 strokes off their score from day one.

Makowski finished the day with a score of one-over 73, giving him a two-day total of 143 and a two-stroke victory over the runner-up in a field of 70 golfers. He registered a birdie on the opening hole and then again on the seventh to go one-under on the front nine. The back nine was a little more challenging, but he worked around a couple of higher scores with a birdie on number-11 and birdies on both 16 and 18.

Classmate Eric Spoth ended up in fourth place at plus-three for the tournament (147). Spoth eagled number-five on Saturday and the picked up a birdie on the same hole Sunday. He also recorded a birdie on the seventh hole of the course, shooting 37 on the front and 38 on the back for a 75.

Next for the Knights was Tyler Yacawych, as the sophomore went from a 79 on Saturday to a 75 on Sunday for a two-day score of 154, good enough for 15th in the field. Yacawych notched birdies on the fifth, 11th, and 14th holes and also recorded an eagle on number-18, closing out the back nine with a 35. Like Yacawych, Luke Weisiger was just three over on the second day, ending up with a 157 and placing in a tie for 22nd in the field. Weisiger had an eagle on the fifth hole and also had birdies on number-8 and number-12, with his 75 rounding out Clarkson's team score. Had either Weisiger or Yacawych faltered, Joe Tiderencel's score of 78 still would have been enough for the Knights to claim the team title. The junior was 14-over for the title and put him in a tie for 26th. He had birdies on number-two and number-16 and carded a 158 for the two-day tournament.

On the 'B' squad for the Knights, Brian Secor had the top score on day for the Knights, shooting 7 wth birdies on number-five, number-11, number-14, and number-16, placing him in a tie for 30th at 159. Aaron Walsh and Alex Sweeney each shot 79 on Sunday, putting them in a tie for 44th in the field. Jace Dutch took six strokes off his first day score and picked up an 81 to close out the tournament at 168, good enough for 54th. Vincent Magee's score of 89 was dropped from the team tally and he finished tied for 57th. Playing as an individual Payne Wood shot 80 to score 161, placing him in a tie for 35th in the field.
