Seven Named to College Sports Communicators Academic All-District for Clarkson Men's and Women's Basketball

Three members of the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team and four student-athletes from the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team have been named to the CSC Academic All-District teams for their respective sports when the organization announced the lists on Tuesday afternoon.

Braeden Burns, Steve DeRegis, and Matt Toscano of the Golden Knights' Men's Basketball program earned the honor while Elizabeth Aiossa, Raelin Burns, Lexi Huiatt, and Veronica Tache were named for the Clarkson Women's Basketball team.

The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletics and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Selections must have a 3.50 grade-point average or better with at least sophomore athletic and academic standing to be considered. Additionally, nominees must compete in at least 90% of athletic competitions, or start 66% of a program's games.

Burns, a sophomore majoring in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, was a Liberty League Second-Team All-Star, averaging 16.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while ranking among the conference leaders in both scoring average and field goal percentage.

DeRegis, a sophomors majoring in Financial Information & Analysis, was second on the team in scoring at 11.6 points per contest while also averaging just under two assists per contest. His 66 3-pointers led the Golden Knights and were among the conference leaders as well.

Toscano, another sophomore majoring in Financial Information & Analysis, played in 24 of the team's 25 games coming off the bench, averaging just under 10 minutes per game as a reserve guard. He tied for sixth on the team with 20 assists.

Aiossa, a sophomore majoring in Civil Engineering, started 20 of the team's 25 games at forward, averaging 2.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.

Burns, a junior with a major in Psychology, averaged 12.0 points per game and once again ranked among the Liberty League leaders in free throw percentage, shooting 83.3% from the line.

Huiatt, a senior majoring in Biology, provided energy coming off the bench as a defender and was fourth on the team in steals with 27 despite playing 14.2 minutes per contest.

Tache, a senior with a major in Financial Information & Analysis, was another key reserve for the Knights, playing in all 25 games with two starting nods. She posted 17 assists and 22 steals in 9.1 minutes per game.
