Clarkson dropped a 4-1 decision at Merrimack on Friday night at Lawler Arena in North Andover, MA. The game marked the return of some veterans and the debut of a first year goaltender, as
Emmett Croteau would get his first start of his career.
The Warriors would get a power play early and cash in on a nifty move by Matt Copponi at 4:14.
In the middle period, Merrimack would extend their lead to 2-0 when Mac Welsher would score at 10:20.
Ryan Taylor would get his 3 goal in as many games to pull the Knights to within 2-1.
Mathieu Gosselin and
Ayrton Martino would get the assists on Taylor's goal at 16:17.
Chase Stevenson would get the final two goals of the game, the first early in the third and the final goal on the empty net to seal the win for the Warriors.
Clarkson was 0 for 4 with the power play, while Merrimack went 1 for 6 with the man advantage.
Despite what the video board in the arena was showing, shot attempts were actually 40 to 41 for Merrimack and shots on goal ended at 26 to 17. Croteau made 22 saves in his first start.
Clarkson will host Lake Superior State next Friday and then welcome in Michigan Tech on Saturday for Family Weekend.
