Clarkson's Shirley Named Liberty League Pitcher of the Week

Junior Jacob Shirley tossed six shutout innings on Saturday for the Clarkson University Baseball team and was rewarded for his effort on Monday when the Liberty League announced its weekly award winners.

Shirley was chosen as the Liberty League Pitcher of the Week after allowing just one hit and one walk over six frames against Hamilton College, striking out seven in his outing en route to a 2-0 victory. Through two starts and nine innings overall, Shirley has a 2.00 earned run average and a 0.89 WHIP, having struck out 11 in that time.

Shortstop Beau Vardion was also chosen to the Liberty League Honor Roll after going 4-for-9 at the plate with two doubles and two RBI.
