Six members of the Clarkson University Swimming & Diving team, including four men and two women, were rewarded for their excellence in both the pool and in the classroom as the 2024-25 College Sports Communicator Academic All-District teams were announced.

The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Swimming and Diving Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletics and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Selections must have a 3.50 grade-point average or better with at least sophomore athletic and academic standing to be considered. Additionally, nominees must compete in at least 90% of athletic competitions, or start 66% of a program's games.

From the Golden Knights' Men's Swimming squad were Mason Cartier, Tristan Miranda, Andrew Sammons, and Matthew Sitarek and from the women Emma Cortez and Ellen Patterson were chosen for the CSC Academic All-District nods.

Cartier, a sophomore majoring in Software Engineering, participated in three finals at the Liberty League Championships in February. His best finish came in the 100 backstroke where he took 14th. He was also 20th in the 200 backstroke and 21st in the 100 butterfly.

Miranda, a senior with a major in Electrical Engineering, also swam in three finals at the Liberty League Championships, with his best showing coming in the 1650 freestyle (17th). He also ended up in 20th in the 400 individual medley and 24th in the 500 freestyle.

Sammons, a sophomore majoring in History, participated in two 'A' finals at the conference meet and set a school record in the 200 breaststroke during the preliminaries (since broken). He finished third in the 200 breaststroke finals in 2:04.17 and was also seventh in the 100 breaststroke (57.41).

Sitarek, a sophomore with a major in Mechanical Engineering, swam in three 'B' finals at the Liberty League Championships. His best finish was in the 200 breaststroke, where he took ninth, while he was also 14th in the 400 individual medley and 16th in the 100 breaststroke.

Cortez, a sophomore Civil Engineering major, finished just outside the finals in three events at the Liberty League Championships, including a 32nd place finish in the 50 freestyle.

Patterson, a senior Chemical Engineering major, picked up points in a pair of events at the Liberty League Championships, placing 19th in the 1650 freestyle and 24th in the 500 freestyle. She also just missed out on the finals by placing 27th in the 200 freestyle.
