Ithaca, NY – Senior Calvin Woolfolk twice broke his one-year-old record in the 100 breaststroke and had the best finish of the week for the Clarkson University Swimming & Diving team as the Golden Knights set a pair of marks on day three of the Liberty League Championships, hosted by Ithaca College.

Through 29 events, the Golden Knights' men remain in fifth place among 10 teams with 604 points, but they are within 15 tallies of the fourth spot. Clarkson's women slipped a couple of spots to eighth with 347.5 points. The league championships will conclude on Saturday.

Day Three of 2025 Liberty League Championships

A pair of records fell for the Golden Knights on Friday. Woolfolk shaved .95 seconds off his own mark in the 100 breaststroke from a year ago during his preliminary run, and Andrew Sammons would have set a new mark himself since he was six-tenths of a second faster than Woolfolk's mark of a year ago. However, Woolfolk followed up with an even more impressive race in the 'A' finals, taking another .85 seconds off his prelim time. Additionally, the 800 freestyle relay women's 'A' group broke a five-year-old mark set by Paige Fronczak, Amelia Kanner, Brooke Peters, and Taylor Lee by more than two-and-a-half seconds.

The evening started with Katelyn Otis finishing 21st in the 200 butterfly 'C' finals, closing with a time of 2:28.67. Four on the men's side would participate in the 'B' and 'C' finals in the same event. Michael Schroeder topped the second heat of the 'B' finals with a time of 1:54.43, ending up ninth overall, while Landon Colby was in the middle of that group in 13th, closing with 1:57.55. In the opening heat 'C' final, Casey Everett finished 21st in 2:05.03 and Collin Losinger was 23rd with a time of 2:08.20.

The 100 backstroke wasn't quite as busy, but three participated in the 'B' finals for the women and men. Aurora Zary came in 14th for the women with a time of 1:01.84, while Mason Cartier also finished 14th (54.16) and James Fedele took 15th (56.49).

The busiest event for Clarkson swimmers was the 100 breaststroke. Fiona Reilly took 13th in the event with a time of 1:09.61 in the finals, while Ava Lamontagne finished in 18th in 1:12.20. It was the men who were particularly strong in the 100 breaststroke. Calvin Woolfolk was third in both the preliminaries and then again in the finals, breaking his own record in the event with 57.00 in the morning and then again at 56.15 in the finals. Andrew Sammons also posted solid times with 57.34 (fifth) in the prelims and then 57.41 (seventh) in the finals on Friday evening. Matthew Sitarek was 16th (59.69) in the 'B' finals.

Gavin Cibelli reached the evening finals in the 1-meter dive, posting 365.10 points for an eighth-place finish. Carter Lancto also ended up 11th with 302.50 points.

The day actually began with the 200 medley relay as the group of Aurora Zary, Fiona Reilly, Dani McDonald, and Gabriela McSwieney finished seventh in 1:53.02, while Clarkson's men were sixth in the same event (1:35.61) thanks to Michael Schroeder, Calvin Woolfolk, Landon Colby, and Gavin Stuhler.

Clarkson's men placed fourth in the 800 freestyle, about a 1.5 seconds short of the school mark as the group of Owen White, Gavin Stuhler, Landon Colby, and Casey Everett finished in 7:03.10. Clarkson's women broke the five-year-old mark with a time of 8:01.10, topping the 8:03.76 from 2020. That record was set by Natasha Hurff, Fiona Reilly, Aurora Zary, and Gabriela McSwieney.
