Knights Fall In First Two Games in Florida

Clermont, FL – Junior Bridget Kerwin hit her third career home run for the Clarkson University Softball team, but the Golden Knights dropped their first two games in Florida, falling to Bowdoin 6-4 and Luther College 8-0 on Saturday morning.

The Golden Knights will look to regroup with games against Buffalo State and Worcester State on Sunday.

In the first game against the Polar Bears, Clarkson fell behind by two runs in the third inning but scored four in the bottom of the frame. Kiera Dent led off with a double and later scored on a Kyla Gary single to left-center for the first run of the game and Elise Siciliano doubled in a run to put the score at 2-0. Clarkson picked up its first run with a sac fly from Katy Aldous and Kerwin then homered to straight away center to plate Emma Sabourin and Elissa Uveino.

In the fifth, Sydney Lang tied the game with a two-run double, and a two-run single from JK Bradley accounted for two more runs for Bowdoin in the sixth.

Against Luther, the Knights struggled on offense with just three hits, though the Norse were held to only seven as well. Luther took advantage of its opportunities, picking up a run in the bottom of the first on a Raven Allen sac fly. In the third, three runs came around thanks to RBI singles from Riley Sausen and Delaney Martinez-Wilson while another came home on an error. In the bottom of the sixth, Anna Forari hit a two-run homer, and the final two runs came home on bases loaded walks.
