In the 217th edition of the Route 11 Rivalry, sophomore's
Jacob Mucitelli and
Alex Campbell made the difference in a 1-0 shutout win over St. Lawrence.
Clarkson settled in and started to get their offensive pressure going in the first periods. Very few whistles produced a fast period that ended with a 9-7 shot advantage for SLU.
In the second period, Clarkson held a 12 to 6 shot advantage and was able to generate multiple scoring chances, with no success, and a breakaway save by
Jacob Mucitelli kept the score deadlocked at 0-0.
At the 8:00 mark of the third period,
Alex Campbell scored from
Mathieu Gosselin and
Jordan Power to put the Knights up 1-0. Clarkson had several good chances on a late power play and then with just over 2:00 min left, SLU pulled their goalie for the extra attacker, but several good clears and faceoff wins preserved the win for the Knights and ran their unbeaten streak to 5 games.
It was the first game since January 25, 2019 at Harvard that Clarkson did not get a penalty, while they went 0-2 on the man advantage.
Jacob Mucitelli made 25 saves in his first career shutout at Clarkson.
The two teams will be right back at it tomorrow night at Appleton, 7:00 pm.
