The third time this season the Knights have been able to erase a 2+ goal deficit and get the win, which are experiences that can serve them well heading into the stretch run of ECAC play and the playoffs.
The first period started well for Clarkson when
Noah Beck scored at the 5:08 mark. The goal was assisted from
Zach Tsekos and
Jack Jacome, and for Jacome it was his 100th point, becoming the 83rd Golden Knight to reach that milestone. SLU stormed back for 3 goals in the first, which forced a goaltending change.
Ethan Haider got the start for the Knights, but was replaced with last nights starter
Jacob Mucitelli.
Noah Beck got his 2nd of the game to pull the Knights to within a goal at the first intermission.
The only goal of the second period came on the power play for SLU, which left Clarkson heading into the third period down two goals on the road...then at 7:05
Dustyn McFaul scored on a great cross ice feed and then at 11:46, senior
Anthony Callin scored to knot the game at 4. The Knights had to kill off a late penalty for force the game into overtime.
The 3 on 3 session did not see any significant chances, so the teams went to the first OT shoot out of the rivalry. Both teams were unable to score in the first two rounds, Tsekos and Jacome the shooters for Clarkson.
Jacob Mucitelli, in his first college shootout, made the 3rd save on David Jankowski, which set the table for
Alex Campbell, who was able to score and get the win for the Golden Knights.
Clarkson was 0-3 on the power play and killed off 3 of 4 chances for SLU.
Up next for the Knights, they will travel to southern New England to face Brown and Yale.
