Bartlett Picks Up 100th Career Point in Knights' 14-5 Win Over Plattsburgh

Potsdam, NY – Led by a strong offensive charge in the third quarter from junior Conor Bartlett, the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team posted a 14-5 victory over Plattsburgh State on a blustery cold day at Hantz Turf Field.

The Golden Knights improved to 3-0 on the season while the Cardinals dropped to 1-1 on the campaign. Clarkson's 50 goals in the first three games of the 2019 season are the most in any year during the program's history save for 1989 (54).

The Knights never trailed during Tuesday's contest as the Green and Gold built up a 4-1 advantage in the first 11 minutes of the game. However, Plattsburgh scored twice in the final two minutes of the opening period to pull within one through 15 minutes. Near the conclusion of the second period, Conor Bartlett found classmate Pierce Currie for a score at 1:21, making Bartlett the 28th member of Clarkson's 100-point club.

That was just the beginning of Bartlett's barrage as he helped Clarkson turn a tight game into a lopsided win. Jake Carroll scored for the Cardinals just 13 seconds into the second half, but that was the last tally that Plattsburgh would get in the game. Bartlett then scored an unassisted marker at 12:19, found the net again at 8:37, and picked up one more at 7:29. Near the end of the period he found teammate Evan Burgett for a goal at 2:05 as the Knights won the frame 5-1 and then shutout the Cardinals 2-0 in a snowy fourth quarter.

Bartlett finished with six points on four goals and two assists while Currie tossed in five points on four goals and one helper. Tanner Cioffi and Billy Bergan each contributed a goal and an assist and Bryan Penney chipped in two assists. Derek Beatty scooped up five groundballs and Riley Holzman added four more, going 14-for-23 on faceoffs.

For Plattsburgh, Stephen Kane scored twice and Jack Mullen added a goal and an assist. Chris Rupp also tacked on three groundballs and three caused turnovers in Plattsburgh's effort.

Clarkson led in shots (51-16), shots on goal (33-10), and groundballs (36-22). Kevin Dyckman made five saves for the Knights, while Joe Falco stopped 18 shots in a little under 55 minutes. Jack Hayes played the last five-plus minutes and made one save.
