With the start of Liberty League play, comes a fresh start for the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team who take on the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers at 3:00 pm on Saturday.
The Tigers come into the game with a 4-1-3 record. They have been particularly dominant at their home Tiger Stadium where they have compiled a 4-0-0 record and have outscored their four opponents, which includes two ranked teams, 6-1. Clarkson holds an all-time record of 5-21-2 against the Tigers and have lost six straight to them. To break that streak, Clarkson will need to score on RIT keeper Amanda Murray, who leads the league with five shutouts and is third in save percentage.
Throughout the non-conference schedule, the Golden Knights have consistently out-shot their opponents, but have struggled to turn those shots into goals. They lead the league in shots with 151 while only allowing their opponents to take 88 shots. The lack of end product from these shots however, has left Clarkson with a 3-5-0 record heading into conference play, including zero road wins in three tries.
Nikki Carfi (Liverpool, N.Y.) and Ashley DeHond (Penfield, N.Y. ) share the team lead for goals with two apiece and Carfi leads the team in points with five. Madison Kather (Amherst, N.Y.) is the team leader in assists with three helpers, which is good enough for sixth in the Liberty League. Megan Strijek (Schenectady, N.Y.) is tied for the league lead in total shots with 30 through 8 games. Finally, goalkeeper Kim Kenline (Akron, N.Y.) is fourth in the league in shutouts with three so far this season.
