Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - Timely goals from the hosts saw the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team fall 3-0 to Vassar College, Saturday afternoon.
With the result the Knights close out the 2025 campaign at 3-9-3 overall, 1-7-1 in league play.
Vassar looked dangerous early on with two shots in the 13th minute and another in the 16th. Isabelle Wood made her first stop of the afternoon in the 24th minute following a shot to her left that the sophomore got down well to meet. Soon after, in the 26th minute, Vassar found the breakthrough when Elena Valle received a pass off some sharp interplay and dispatched a shot to the top right corner of the goal for the first advantage of the game.
Neither side looked especially menacing in attack over the remainder of the opening 45 minutes with Vassar producing two off-target attempts and Clarkson struggling to find the end result in the final third, ending the half with zero shots.
Aurora Zary registered the first shot for Clarkson in the opening minute of the second half, just missing the target on the attempt. The brief pressure by the Knights was answered by a second Brewer goal in the 54th minute when Sonya Franklin received a centered pass from the right wing to tuck away, doubling the hosts' advantage.
Following some continued sustained pressure by Vassar where Wood was called into action to keep the lead at just two, the Brewers managed to net a third in the 86th minute closing out the contest. Gianna Panarelli found herself with some room to maneuver 25 yards for goal and decided to have a go, connecting on a shot that nestled in the top right corner for the final scoring action of the afternoon.
Vassar controlled the advantage in shots (26-5) and shots on goal (9-0). Wood had an eventful game in goal for the Knights making six saves, tying her third best on the year in that category. Laura Shea was not tested in net for the Brewers. Zary, Avianna Johnson, Lillian Gillett, Paige Ford and Riley Irvin all recorded a shot apiece for Clarkson.
