Rochester, NY - Freshman Jamie Bridge (Plymouth, CT) struck out a career-high 13 hitters in six innings of work, but the Clarkson University Softball team dropped a pair of games against RIT on Sunday afternoon, falling in the first game 13-1 and losing 2-1 in the nightcap.

The Golden Knights fell to 0-18 overall and 0-6 in conference games. Clarkson will look to pick up its first win of the season this week, hopefully when the team christens its home park, Scott Field, in one of several scheduled doubleheaders.

Clarkson didn't help itself much in the first two frames against the Tigers, committing four errors to help RIT score numerous unearned runs. The Tigers posted eight runs in the first and five more in the second to take an overwhelming 13-0 advantage. It wasn't until Katie Pelton (Auburn, NH) entered the game that RIT's bats calmed down. Over the course of seven outs of relief, Pelton didn't allow a baserunner and struck out a pair to hold the Tigers' offfense down. Clarkson countered with a single run in the top of the fourth when MacKenzie Pelton (Glens Falls, NY) plated a run with a two-out single, scoring Kat Tamburro (Frankfort, NY) who had reached on an error. Bridge, Pelton, and Alycia Short (Norfolk, NY) each had a single in the opener.

In game two, the RIT offense was truly quieted as Bridge was dominant, allowing only three hits and a walk over six innings. Unfortunately, Bridge allowed a solo homer to Sarah Wolcott in the fourth and another unearned run in the bottom of the fifth when a passed ball on a third strike, for what would have been the third out of the inning, which turned out to be the winning run. Clarkson had tied the score following Wolcott's home run when MacKenzie Pelton produced a one-out single and was pushed to second on a walk from Short. Following another out, Lisa Ferrucci (Amsterdam, NY) delivered a pinch-hit single to center to score Pelton.

In the second game, Kat Tamburro was 3-for-3, but was never pushed around the bases for a run.
