Oneonta, NY - After splitting in the opening two matches on Friday, the Clarkson University Volleyball team, ranked 5th in New York State, swept both Mount St. Mary (30-24, 30-10, 30-18) and Union (30-23, 30-22, 30-23) to place 3rd at the Oneonta State Tournament Sunday afternoon.

On the opening day of the tournament, the Golden Knights fell to Oneonta in three straight games, 30-17, 30-22, 30-23 and then beat Baruch College 28-30, 30-21, 30-15, 30-27. Sophomore Stephanie Thornton (Corning, NY) was named to the All-Tournament team, finishing the weekend with 33 kills, 41 digs, 4 aces, 3 assists and 3 blocks. Senior Heather Sill (Mendon, NY) also contributed 48 kills and 33 digs in the four matches. 

The Golden Knights move to 16-4 overall on the season and return to action next weekend when they compete in the Union Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Schenectady, NY.
