Biography
FRESHMAN SEASON (2025-26): Jaela gained valuable experience on Clarkson’s blue line during her freshman season, appearing in 22 games for the Golden Knights. The defenseman recorded two goals and two assists for four points while posting a plus-six rating. Carter also registered 12 shots on goal, nine blocked shots and only one minor penalty.
Carter recorded the first goal of her collegiate career against St. Lawrence in December. The milestone highlighted her growing confidence with the puck and ability to contribute offensively from the blue line. The Niagara Falls, Ontario, native added another goal during Clarkson’s 2-1 road victory over Dartmouth on January 23. Carter’s contribution helped the Golden Knights extend their winning streak to seven games during an important stretch of ECAC Hockey competition.
Carter’s smooth skating, puck-moving ability and disciplined play allowed her to contribute when called upon throughout the season. Her experience against both nonconference and ECAC Hockey opponents provided a strong foundation as she prepares to take on a larger role in Clarkson’s defensive corps.
BEFORE CLARKSON:
Jaela Carter joins Clarkson University after a strong 2024–25 season with the Burlington Barracudas in the OWHL U22 AA league. A smooth-skating, puck-moving defender, Carter recorded 3 goals and 9 assists for 12 points across 36 games while maintaining disciplined, poised play in her own zone. She was a key piece on the Barracudas’ back end, trusted in both even-strength and penalty kill situations.
Known for her calm presence under pressure and ability to transition the puck quickly, Carter’s game is built on strong hockey IQ and reliable defensive reads.Carter is expected to bring mobility and depth to Clarkson’s blue line as she begins her NCAA career.
