Torin La Liberte

Torin La Liberte is entering his sixth season as the head coach for the Golden Knights' Cross Country and Nordic Ski teams for the 2024-25 season.

In his first season at the helm, the Golden Knights' Cross Country team enjoyed 11th and 17th place finishes at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals, and in 2021 had a pair of top-15 finishes at the NCAA Mideast Regionals, including an All-Region performer in Hannah Yorkey. The Nordic Ski teams each finished in the top five at the USCSA National Championships, held in Lake Placid in March 2020, and the men and women came in third and sixth, respectively, at the USCSA Nationals in 2022. This past year, the Golden Knights' men captured their fourth USCSA National title, the first for the men since 2012 and the ninth title overall for the men and women combined.

La Liberte spent 2018-19 as the assistant coach for both programs under long time coach Jim Allott, who retired from his coaching duties at Clarkson at the conclusion of the 2018-19 school year. He helped graduate student Abigail Sullivan reach the NCAA Cross Country Championships and also helped guide the Golden Knights' Women's Nordic Ski team to its fifth USCSA title.

La Liberte graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies, Journalism, and Digital Arts from St. Michael's College in Vermont. Prior to coming to Clarkson, La Liberte helped coach the Kennett (NH) High School Ski Jumping team to their second consecutive state and national championship.

La Liberte came to Clarkson after having competed in both cross country and Nordic skiing at Saint Michael's. A four-year standout of each team, La Liberte captained both squads his junior and senior seasons as well as serving as the Student Athlete Advisory Committee representative for the Nordic Ski team. He aced the Purple Knight Nordic Ski team 32 times in his collegiate career, including a career-best 31st in the 10K Freestyle at the 2016 University of Vermont Carnival, and 39th in the 5K Classic at the Williams College Carnival that same year.

As a cross country runner, La Liberte was in his team's top three in 20 races over his career, spending the entire 2015 season in either the number one or two positions en route to 8K and 10K PR's of 27:02.6 (Northeast-10 Conference Championships) and 33:29.91 (NCAA DII Eastern Regional), respectively.
