Bryce Sookro is a 6'1", 223-pound right-shot defenseman from Nelson, British Columbia, known for his offensive instincts, physical presence, and leadership on the ice.

FRESHMAN YEAR (2025-26):  Bryce Sookro became a dependable part of Clarkson’s defensive corps during his freshman season, appearing in all 38 games for the Golden Knights...The defenseman recorded one goal and eight assists for nine points while registering 42 shots and 33 blocked shots. His eight assists tied for the third-highest total among Clarkson defensemen...Sookro contributed at both ends of the ice while gaining experience against a demanding non-conference and ECAC Hockey schedule. He recorded three assists during conference play, including helpers against St. Lawrence and Union. Sookro assisted on Matthew Mayich’s goal at St. Lawrence on January 24 and helped set up Jace Letourneau during Clarkson’s 8-7 overtime victory over Union on February 7...The season’s defining moment came in the opening game of Clarkson’s ECAC Hockey quarterfinal series at top-seeded Quinnipiac. Early in the second period, Sookro stepped into the offensive zone and fired a shot through traffic for his first collegiate goal. The goal stood as the game-winner as Clarkson earned a 3-0 victory over the Bobcats...Sookro followed that performance by helping the Golden Knights complete the quarterfinal sweep with a 4-3 victory the next afternoon. His late-season emergence and ability to deliver in a major postseason moment helped Clarkson advance to Lake Placid for the second consecutive year.

BEFORE CLARKSON: 

Bryce has been a standout player for the Cranbrook Bucks in the BCHL. In the 2024-25 season, he led all BCHL defensemen with 56 points in 53 games, showcasing his offensive prowess from the blue line. His exceptional performance earned him a spot in the BCHL All-Star Weekend.

Sookro began his junior career with the Nelson Leafs in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL), where he earned both the Rookie of the Year and Top Defenseman honors in 2021–22 . He then joined the Cranbrook Bucks in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), where he played three full seasons. During the 2024–25 season, Sookro led all BCHL defensemen with 56 points (13 goals, 43 assists) in 53 regular-season games and added 7 points in 10 playoff games and served as the team's Captain.

His exceptional performance earned him the BCHL's Top Defenseman Award and a spot on the First Team All-Star roster . Sookro's ability to contribute offensively and defensively, combined with his leadership qualities, make him a valuable addition to the Clarkson Golden Knights.
