Knights Put Together Complete Effort in 22-1 Win Over Plattsburgh

Plattsburgh, NY – Eleven different players scored at least one goal as the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team dominated from the opening whistle en route to a 22-1 win over Plattsburgh State on Wednesday afternoon.

The Golden Knights moved to 4-1 on the season while the Cardinals dropped to 1-3. Clarkson opens up Liberty League play this weekend when it takes on Rensselaer.

Clarkson held Plattsburgh to just one successful clear attempt in their first nine tries in the opening quarter and had a 14-1 shot differential which resulted in eight goals in the first 15 minutes. Just three minutes into the second quarter the Knights were already playing with a running clock thanks to an 11-1 lead following a score from Leah Hoeksema. With a 13-goal lead by the half, the Knights took their foot off the gas, but still scored another eight times in the second half while continuing to clamp down defensively, giving up just one shot in the final 30 minutes.

Makenna Cassin found the back of the net five times and also caused two turnovers while adding in four draw controls. Gabby Cranfield matched her point total thanks to three goals and two assists, and Brooklynne Perrigo scored four times. Hoeksema also had four points with two goals and two assists. Zoe Patrick led the Knights with four groundballs and Morgan Kenna caused four turnovers for Clarkson.

For Plattsburgh State, Erica Dickinson accounted for the lone goal, while Ashley O'Hara had the assist as well as three groundballs.

Clarkson dominated with a 35-4 edge in total shots and a 24-2 lead in shots on goal. Riley Donovan gave up one goal and had a save in the first half and Jennaca McGill held the Cardinals scoreless in the second half. Lauren Piscazzi made five saves for Plattsburgh State.
