With a week of preparation after a Liberty League contest last Saturday, the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team travels to Utica for a non-league matchup with SUNY Poly at 3 p.m.

The Series: Clarkson and SUNY Poly have only met twice since the 2006-07 season and the Wildcats have prevailed in both matchups. This includes a 77-83 loss for the Knights at Alumni Gymnasium last year, Finn Cork, Braeden Burns and Steve DeRegis all scored in double-digits in a game with nine lead changes.  


Key Stats for Clarkson (2-2, 0-1): The Knights return to action following a defeat to local rivals St. Lawrence University, 63-75. As a team Clarkson is shooting 48% from the field, dishing out an average of 15.5 assists per 40 minutes. Nate Abernethy continues to be a focal point in the offense posting 19.3 ppg on 62% shooting. The freshman is coming off 25 and 18 point games last week, performances that earned him his second Liberty League Rookie of the Week recognition of the year. Braeden Burns leads the team in minutes with 31.3 per game while also adding 17 ppg as one of three Knights averaging in double figures. Steve DeRegis completes that trio averaging 15.8 ppg while shooting 46% from three and grabbing 5.3 rebounds a contest. Clarkson receives energy off the bench in the form of Matt Toscano, who averages 20.5 minutes on the floor, scoring 5.5 ppg. 


Key Stats for SUNY Poly (3-1): The Wildcats come into Saturday on a three game win streak beating SUNY Canton in their last game, 65-57, in Canton. Anthony Rose posted a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. As a team SUNY Poly is shooting 46% from the field while holding opponents to a 39% mark. Rose leads the team in scoring with 14 ppg while handing out 2.8 assists per game through 31.5 minutes. The Wildcats receive a generous scoring impact off the bench from Oumara Hydara on 10.8 ppg. Guard Brian Bonin and forward Kamryn Comstock match each other with 24 minutes and 9.3 ppg averages, Comstock leads the team in rebounding grabbing 7.3 boards per contest.
