Burns Named Liberty League Rookie of the Week for Third Time

For the third time this fall, first-year collegian Conley Burns of the Clarkson University Volleyball team has been selected as the Liberty League Rookie of the Week.

Burns continued her emergence as the Golden Knights' go-to hitter, recording 31 kills over seven sets this past weekend against SUNY Potsdam and Vassar College. She had 13 kills and five digs in the sweep of the Bears on Friday evening and then posted 18 kills and eight more digs in a four-set loss against Vassar College. For the week, she averaged 4.43 kills per set and 1.86 digs per set.

Through the team's first 16 matches this year, Burns is averaging 3.41 kills per set, the seventh-best figure in the Liberty League, and 2.00 digs per set while hitting .199. She has registered eight matches with 10 or more kills and has three straight with at least 13 kills in a match. Additionally, Burns' 3.41 kills per set are the most by a Clarkson freshman since Aishvina Arasu averaged 3.42 in the 2012 season.
