The Clarkson Women's Hockey team comes into this North Country showdown looking to gain ground on St. Lawrence and put some distance between themselves and the teams fighting to get into the top 4 of the ECAC standings.

Clarkson enters the weekend in 4th place with 26 points, 6.5 points behind SLU and 4 point ahead of Quinnipiac.   

The Knights and Saints have meet twice already this season in non-league games, a 2-0 win at Cheel and a 1-1 tie at Appleton.  The Knights won six straight after that series, but the new year has not been as fruitful for the team, going 2-4, including an overtime loss last Saturday vs. Brown.

Goal scoring will be at a premium in this two game series, Clarkson allows 1.46 goals per game against and SLU is just a tick above that at 1.5 goals against per game.   In the previous series, only 4 goals were scored in total.   Special teams will also play a critical role in the series, and the Knights hold the edge in that category, with a 42.4% success rate on the power play and killing off at a 92.7%.  The Saints are 26.3% on the power play and has an 80% rate on the PK.

The Knights will lean on their dynamic duo at the point in Haley Winn and Nicole Gosling.  Winn leads the teams in points with 35 and Nicole is 3rd in scoring with 27 points.  The crease has heated up with competition between Julia Minotti and Adreanna Doucette for playing time.  Doucette, a first year player, has started 3 of the last 4 games, going 2-1 in those starts.
