After going 6-3-1 in their non league games this fall, the Clarkson Golden Knights will open the 2024-25 ECAC Schedule tonight at RPI. RPI started league play two weeks ago, dropping two to their travel partner, Union.
Clarkson jumped out to a 4-0 lead over Stonehill in the first period and then cruised to a 6-3 win. Clarkson will rely on their team defense and the strong goaltending of
Ethan Langenegger to try to push back against the 4 goals per game pace of RPI this season. The power play has been successful for the Engineers this season, so Clarkson will have to limit their chances and then lean on their penalty kill that has been clicking at 85+% this season.
Trey Taylor and
Garrett Dahm lead the Knights in points with 7, while Dahm,
Ryan Richardson, and Jarad Mangan lead the team in goals with 3. Last weekend, vs Stonehill, saw some of the Knights rookies earn their first points, as
Tate Taylor had his first goal,
Luke Pakulak score twice, and Sr.
Brady Egan chip in two assists.
RPI has faced two common opponents this season, blowing out Canisius and then losing and getting a tie with Niagara.
Tonights game can be heard on B99.3 FM with Bob Ahlfeld and streamed on ESPN+.
