The Golden Knights will conclude the non league portion of their schedule during a trip to Western NY as they face the RIT Tigers tonight and Canisius on Saturday.
The Tigers come into the game with a 12-6-0 record and a recent win over Lake Superior State. The Knights are 9-6-1, coming off a 5-4 win over UMass in Lake Placid. Clarkson and RIT last faced each other during the COVID season of 2020-21. The Knights won at Cheel 5-1 and dropped an 8-5 decision at RIT. Against common opponents, RIT has defeated Notre Dame, 3-0 and Lake State, 4-2. Clarkson split at Notre Dame and lost 4-3 in OT to LSSU. All time, the Knights are 14-3-3 against RIT.
Ryan Taylor was named the ECAC Forward of the Week, presented by Bluebird Hotels, for his two goal effort vs UMass. Taylor scored the game tying goal in the 1st and then the OT winner. The Knights play better with the lead, they are 7-2 this season when they score first and 6-1-1 when leading after two periods. Last Fri vs ASU was the first time this season when the Knights lost after carrying the lead into the 3rd period. Grad Transfer,
Austin Roden, has started 13 games for the Knights thus far, posting a .921 save % and a 2.06 GAA. He has the 7th best GAA in the Nation and was named the MAC Goaltending ECAC Goalie of the Week after the wins at Brown and Yale.
