Mathieu Gosselin would get 100th career point on what would be the game winning goal as the Knights stormed back to finish off the weekend with a 4-1 win at RPI. With the win, Clarkson moves to 5-2-1 in ECAC play.
After a scoreless first period,
Ryan Richardson got the goal scoring for the Knights when he was able to convert on a break from
Jesse Tucker and
Jack Judson at 8:28.
Gosselin would hit the century mark in points when he put the Knights up 2-0 at 12:02 on the Power Play.
Anthony Romano and
Cody Monds would assist on the goal. RPI would cut the lead in half at 16:53, as
Brady Parker was bumped in the crease he sat helpless as RPI was able to bang home a loose puck.
In the 3rd period, the Knights use good puck possession to eat up good stretches of the clock and then at 13:43,
Trey Taylor would get a shot to trickle thru to put the Knights up 3-1. The good low play caused a turn over which
Eric Ciccolini and
Ayrton Martino were able to get the puck from below the goal line out to Taylor for the shot.
RPI would pull their goalie with just under 3 minutes left to play, and a blocked shot by
Oliver Moberg would lead to a
Anthony Romano empty net goal at 17:57 to ice the game for the Knights.
Brady Parker would make 23 saves for his 2nd straight win (3rd counting the exhibition vs USA). Clarkson would get 1 goal on 2 chances with the man advantage while killing off all 3 Engineer chances.
Next up the Knights will host Yale and Brown for their first action back at Cheel since Dec 9th.
