The Series: Last year, each of the five West Division teams defeated the five East Division teams in the Liberty League, with the Golden Knights doing their part in taking down the top seed in the East, Skidmore. Clarkson outslugged the Thoroughbreds 16-6 and 12-6 in the best-of-three series.

Key Stats for Clarkson (11-21, 9-9 Liberty League): Senior Colby Brouillette had a solid month in one day last year against Skidmore, homering three times and driving in 13 runs in two games against the Thoroughbreds. This year, Brouillette is leading the team in the slash categories at .351/.453/.577 with 15 extra-base hits, including four home runs. Clarkson has also gotten solid output from its three catchers. The combination of Joe Figliolino, Robert Whalen, and Robert Fratangelo have combined for a .325 batting average in 126 at bats with 23 runs scored and 26 runs batted in. Figliolino is among a handful of standout first-year collegians for Clarkson, with the best season belonging to James Mason, who is batting .347 in 21 games for the Knights.

Key Stats for Skidmore (22-14, 11-5 Liberty League): Last year's Liberty League Player of the Year Jackson Hornung is a leading candidate for the award again in 2023, as Hornung is hitting .435/.571/.835 with 11 home runs, 39 RBI, 46 runs scored, 50 hits, and 33 walks. Trey Bourque has also driven in 33 runs with 14 extra-base hits and Sam Kornet has homered six times to help Skidmore average 7.53 runs per game. Ameer Hasan and Quinn Hocom are the team's top two pitchers, with Hasan posting a 3.62 earned run average in 59.2 innings and Hocom striking out 51 in 41.2 innings of work.
