Men's Hockey

Knights host Brown in ECAC Playoff Action

Clarkson will open the 2023 ECAC Playoffs with a home contest against the 11th-seed Brown.  Today's game is a 4:00 pm puck drop.  The first round is now a one game play-in, moving away from a best 2 out of 3-game series.

Clarkson won at Brown in February 6-2, and tied the Bears 2-2 back in December at Cheel.  The Knights have had good luck vs the Bears in recent years, they are 8-0-2 in their last 10 meetings.  Clarkson is 11-3 all-time vs Brown in the ECAC Playoffs.

The Knights are 39-14 all-time in playoff games at Cheel Arena.  Clarkson has faced Brown at Cheel on 3 occasions.  In 1992 a Quarterfinal game, winning 8-3,  in 1996 when they swept the Bears in 2 games (5-2 & 5-3, and in 1999 sweeping the Bears in 2 games (3-2 & 3-1).  Clarkson has been the 6th seed 5 times in the ECAC Playoffs, the 1988 team made it to the Championship Game.  Despite the ECAC moving to all 12 teams making the playoffs, an impressive stat is that Clarkson has been an 8 seed or higher in 53 of the 57 years of ECAC Playoff Hockey.  Clarkson's lowest seed while winning the ECAC Title was #3 (1993 and 2019)

The Knights have never faced Brendan Whittet in the playoffs as a coach, but Whittet was on the Bears team that lost 3-1 to Clarkson in the 1993 ECAC Title game in Lake Placid.

In the playoffs, Alex Campbell has the most career goals in the playoffs (2), and Anthony Callin and Noah Beck have the most points in playoff action with 4 points on 1 goal and 3 assists each.  Alex Campbell is the leader in career points vs Brown on the roster with 8 on 4 goals and 4 assists, while Mathieu Gosselin and Anthony Callin have 6 points each in their career vs Brown.  Ethan Haider has faced the Bears twice going 1-0-1 with a 1.93 GAA.  In playoff action, Haider is 1-1 with a 2.98 GAA  and a .900% save percentage.
