ITHACA, NY - The Clarkson Men's Hockey team was able to ride 2 power-play goals to a 4-3 win at Lynah Rink for their first win at Cornell since 2017.
Clarkson would take the lead at 9:54 of the 1st when
Alex Campbell would score from
Mathieu Gosselin.
The Big Red would get the next two goals to take a 2-1 lead early in the 2nd period until
Ayrton Martino would get his first of two goals at 12:53 of the 2nd to tie the game.
Alex Campbell would give the Knights the lead with his 2nd of the game at 17:55 of the 2nd.
Cornell would get a power play goal mid-way through the 3rd period, but just minutes later, the Knights would get a power play chance and Martino would make it 4-3.
Clarkson would kill off a penalty late in the 3rd and withstand 70 seconds of extra attacker time from the Big Red to hang on for the win and pick up 3 league points on the road.
Mathieu Gosselin would finish with assists on all 4 goals for the Knights, while Campbell and Martino would each score 2 goals.
Ethan Haider would make 24 saves for the win. The Knights were 2 for 4 on the power play, while holding Cornel to 1 for 5 on the power play.
With the regulation win, Clarkson stays in 6th and moves 4 points away from St. Lawrence, who lost in OT to Colgate. The Knights will have a chance to move closer to the Raiders as they travel to Hamilton tomorrow for a 7pm face off.
