Despite out shooting the Engineers, Clarkson fell to the Engineers in their ECAC opener, 4-2 at Cheel Arena.

RPI found the net 3 minutes into the game from a goal by Sutter Muzzatti to take the lead of the night.  It was the 4th of the season for the Preds draft pick. In the first period, Clarkson had a 7 -4 shot advantage.

In the second period, the Knights would go on the power play at 3:33 when Regula would go off for tripping. Clarkson would tie the game at 4:03 of the 2nd period when
Trey Taylor connected with
Ryan Richardson for the first goal of the night.  RPI answered back 4 minutes later with a goal from Jack Brackett at 7:53 giving the Engineers the lead back at 2-1. The Engineers would go up 3-1 in the 2nd, when Danny Ciccarello scored at 15:58.

Nearly 5 minutes into the 3rd period Austin Heidemann would put RPI up 4-1.  The Knights would out shoot the Engineers 13-3 in the third period, and they would get Croteau to the bench with 3:46 left in the game. On the power play and with the extra attacker,
Ellis Rickwood would score at 17:12, assisted by
Mathieu Gosselin and cutting the lead down to 2. The Knights would get Croteau to the bench again and get a few more chances, but were unable to convert. Â

Emmett Croteau ends the night with 12 saves. The Clarkson power play was 2 for 7, while holding RPI to 0 for 1 on their lone chance. Â

With the loss the Knights drop to 3-5. Next, the Golden Knights take on the Union Garnet Chargers, tomorrow at 4pm. The game will be followed by the annual Skate with A Knight.
