This 100th edition of Clarkson Hockey has had the flair for the dramatic, with comeback wins multiple times this season, and tonight despite giving up two first period goals the Knights fought back to pick up the win and a weekend sweep of Brown and Yale.
Yale, came out flying, looking to change their fortunes after an OT loss last night to SLU. The Eli scored just 1:22 into the game and then got only their 2nd power play goal of the season to take the 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
Clarkson, seemingly unfazed by the 2 goal deficit, came out in the second period and went to work wearing down a Yale team that was only dressing 9 forwards. At 6:04,
Anthony Callin scored on the Power Play, and then just minutes later at 8:43,
Alex Campbell tied the game for the Knights with his team leading 13th goal of the season. Â
In the third,
Mathieu Gosselin gave Clarkson the lead with his 8th of the season, but the Knights took 4 penalties that gave Yale some room to try to even the score. The Knights penalty kill was sharp and Clarkson was able to hang on for the win. Â
With the 6 point weekend Clarkson is firmly in 2nd place, only 1 point back of Quinnipiac, who will be at Cheel this Saturday.
Jacob Mucitelli made 20 saves, 10 in the third period, for his 5th win of the year. Â
Clarkson will next host Princeton on Friday at Cheel Arena. Â
