Knights sweep Arizona St.

Clarkson would run their winning streak to 5 games with a 5-3 win and weekend sweep of Arizona St. in front of 2600 at Cheel on Saturday night.

For the first time in 5 games the Knights did not score first, as ASU was able to grab the opening goal at 11:57 of the 1st period, Dylan Jackson scoring his 2nd of the season.

Clarkson would even the game when Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup would get his 5th of the season at 8:52 of the 2nd with assists to Mathieu Gosselin and Noah Beck.  The Knights would take the lead at 16:16 of the 2nd when Anthony Callin would also get his 5th of the season from Alex Campbell and Ryan Taylor. 

In the 3rd, ASU would tie the game at 3:18 on the Power Play when Lukas Sillinger would score his 4th of the season.  

Clarkson would regain the lead, when Ayrton Martino got his 3rd of the season at 8:18 of the 3rd.  Gosselin would get his 2n helper on the night.  The Knights would extend their lead to 4-2 when Mathieu Gosselin would get his 3rd point on the night in the form of his 3rd goal on the season.  Ayrton Martio would add to his team leading 12 assists and Dustyn McFaul would also assist on the goal. 
ASU would get a goal called on a review.  On the 4 on 4 the puck looked to have crossed the line, but the call was not made on the ice.  A review after determined it was a goal, Doan on the goal from ASU and it was 4-3 with 5:52 left.  

With 4:30 left in the game, Schmidt-Svejstrup would get his 2nd of the game to put the Knights back up by 2, Martino would get his 2nd assist and Gosselin would get his 4th point of the night.

A huge hit by Dustyn McFaul would lead to a huge scrum resulting in a 4 on 4 with 2:01 left in the game and ASU would pull their goalie for the extra attacker.  The Knights would have no less than 5 blocked shots in that final push by ASU and they would hold on to get their 5th straight win. 

Clarkson's Ethan Haider would end up with 28 saves on the Knight moving his record to 7-6 on the season.  Clarkson was 1 for 4 on the power play and held ASU to 1 goal on 4 chances with the man advantage.  For Gosselin, the 4 points would match a career high.  Schmidt-Svejstrup and Martino would both finish with 3 points on the night.

The Knights will have the weekend off before they return to ECAC play.
