Clarkson would jump out to leads of 2-0 and 3-1 but would end up dropping a 4-3 ot decision to UNH Friday night at Cheel Arena.
In the first the Knights seemed to have the energy as they jumped out to a 15 to 5 shot advantage at one point and that pressure paid off with a Power Play goal from
Alex Campbell as he redirected a shot from
Noah Beck.Â
Ayrton Martino also was credited with an assist on the goal.Â
Clarkson would extend the lead when Beck scored at 16:16 of the 2nd period, for Rickwood it would be his first point as Golden Knight with the assist. Â
UNH would pull to within 1 early in the third period, but the Knights would extend the lead again to two goals when
Noah Beck got his 3rd point on the night with the goal at 4:30 of the 3rd period. Â
The Wildcats would get some energy on the power play in the 3rd to make it 3-2 and then would tie the game at 7:13. Â
The game would go to overtime where they had an early chance by
Alex Campbell, but then took a penalty off of a turnover and just as the penalty was about to expire, UNH was able to score to get the OT win over the Knights. Â
UNH went 2 for 3 with the power play and Clarkson would convert on 1 of 2 power plays. Â
Ethan Haider would finish would 33 saves on the night, while the Knights managed 31 shots on net.
Clarkson will host Merrimack tomorrow night at Cheel, 7:00 pm puck drop.
