The Clarkson Men's Hockey Team used a balanced attack and the help of several newcomers to take down Ottawa University 7-3 in front of 2,774.
Mathieu Gosselin gave the Knights a 1-0 lead at 7:57 on the Power Play.Â
Trey Taylor extended the lead with a Power Play goal of his own just under a minute later and the Knights took a 2-0 lead into the break.Â
Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup opened the scoring just a 1:50 into the 2nd period. The Gee Gees would pull to within 2 on a goal mid way thru the period but the Knights would answer back when
Brandon Buhr scored and take a 4-1 lead into the break. Â
Ethan Haider was strong in net making 20 saved thru 2 periods.Â
Brady Parker took over in relief and finished with 7 saves in the 3rd, including an assist on Gosselin's goal to make it 5-1 Knights. Â
Clarkson would add two more in the 3rd from
Tristan Sarsland and
Noah Beck to finish off Ottawa for the 7-3 win. Â
Clarkson held Ottawa to 0 for 6 on the power play and converted 3 of 5 chances of their own. Â
Alex Campbell finished with 2 assists, Gosselin with two goals and 2 helpers, and
Jordan Power also finished with 2 assists. In total, newcomers to the line up accounted for 7 points on the night.Â
Next up, Clarkson will host UNH and Merrimack next weekend.
