A slow start by the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team from picking up a win against 14th-ranked St. John Fisher on Sunday, but the Golden Knights will be looking for a shot at redemption when the teams face one another again on Wednesday.

The Series: The Golden Knights are 2-3 all-time against the Cardinals, including the 18-11 defeat against St. John Fisher on Sunday, March 7th. 

Key Stats for Clarkson (0-1): One more point for Conor Bartlett and the graduate student will hold sole possession of eighth-place on Clarkson's all-time scoring list. With a full season of games, Bartlett will have a chance at eclipsing 200 career points, which would make him the fifth player in program history to reach that total. Clarkson's defense was busy against the Cardinals this past weekend as four different players recorded two or more caused turnovers. Connor Borchardt led the defensive effort with four caused turnovers and three groundballs while Tyler King had three groundballs and a pair of caused turnovers. Clarkson was outscored 6-0 in the first quarter versus St. John Fisher and outshot 18-3, but the final three quarters were more even with a 12-11 score and the Knights owning a 33-23 edge in shots. 

Key Stats for St. John Fisher (1-0): Ian Evans led the Cardinals in scoring a year ago with 26 points on 12 goals and 14 assists, and the diminutive junior had a strong start to his season with eight points on six goals and two assists. Classmate Tucker O'Donnell likewise enjoyed an impressive beginning to 2021 with seven points on wo goals and five assists. Joe Post played a key role in St. John Fisher's success in game one of 2021, winning 21 of 27 faceoffs and scooping up nine groundballs, leading to plenty of possession for the Cardinals. St. John Fisher controlled the ball on Sunday to the tune of a 41-27 edge in groundballs and a 24-9 lead in faceoffs.
