Knights On Short End of 1-0 Decision Against Utica

Utica, NY - Despite an overwhelming advantage on offense, the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team was unable to cash in on any of its chances, falling 1-0 in non-league action at Utica College on Saturday evening.

The Golden Knights dropped below .500 at 2-3 overall on the season, while Utica improved to 3-1. Clarkson will play its first home game in 17 days when the team hosts SUNY Canton on Tuesday night at Hantz Turf Field.

Clarkson enjoyed a 22-5 advantage in shots, but just eight of those attempts made it on the frame. Junior midfielder Mack Walton was particularly busy, rifling 11 shots on the Utica defense.

The Pioneers took advantage of one of their few chances at the Clarkson goal as a deflection found Connor McQuillan in front and the freshman converted for his second goal of the year.

Clarkson continued to pepper the Utica defense to the tune of 13 shots in the second half, but only three made it through to the Pioneers' goalkeeper Randy Miksch. The junior stopped all eight shots on goal for the shutout.

The Golden Knights not only held a significant edge in shots, but also produced eight corner kick chances to Utica's zero in that category. Clarkson goalkeeper Ian Roeloffs made two saves.
