The proverbial monkey is off the back of the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team as the Golden Knights got into the win column last Sunday. Now the Green and Gold will focus on the stretch of conference games in 2019, beginning with Vassar and Bard this weekend at Alumni Gymnasium.

Live Stats/Live Video

The Series vs. Bard: Clarkson is 12-2 all-time versus the Raptors, but split the season series in 2017-18. The Knights enjoyed several standout performances against Bard last year, including a 27-point effort from Joe Lucas, which saw the first-year player hit nine 3-pointers in an 86-81 overtime victory at Alumni Gym

The Series vs. Vassar: For the past three years, the Brewers and Knights have split the season series, but Clarkson still holds a 22-14 edge since 2000-01. Junior Matt Higgins averaged 22.5 points per game in the two meetings last year, but it was senior Liam Ellis who posted a career-high 36 in Clarkson's 84-77 victory last January.

Key Stats for Clarkson (1-9, 0-3 Liberty League): Not surprisingly, Clarkson's best efforts in the fall of 2018 came when the Knights shot well from the outside. However, the Green and Gold have been above .333 only three times in 10 games so far and have reached double figures in 3-pointers made five times, figures that were accomplished 72% and 64% of the time, respectively, in 2017-18. Junior Matt Higgins found his stroke against SUNY Canton on Sunday, making five 3-point field goals.

Key Stats for Vassar (5-5, 1-2 Liberty League): The Brewers possess a solid inside-outside game with two consistent shooting guards and two sizeable forwards. Alex Seff and Hugh Durham have combined for 53 3-point field goals with a success rate of 38.97% while the rest of the team is shooting just 25.44% from beyond the arc (29-for-114). Big men Paul Grinde (14.4 ppg, 7.6 rpg) and Zach Bromfeld (13.2 ppg, 7.1 rpg) each take up plenty of space in the interior, with Bromfield shooting a ridiculous 74.0% from the floor. However, the sophomore forward is making just 58.5% of his free throws.

Key Stats for Bard (6-3, 2-0 Liberty League): The Raptors are off to a strong start thanks to four straight wins. Bard is averaging 84.9 points per game and has a rebounding advantage of over nine per game. Four players are averaging 14 points per game or more, led by sophomore Alijah Rue, who is producing 19.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. Armando Dunn chips in 16.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest. David Runcie is the team's most consistent scorer, reaching double figures in all nine contests and Justyn Rogers has been hot as of late, averaging 21.0 points per contest over the team's last three outings.
