CU Men's Soccer Preview - vs. Utica College (9/5)

Off to a 2-0 start, the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team is looking to continue its unbeaten run at home on Wednesday night, as the Golden Knights will take on Utica College at 6:00 pm on Hantz Turf Field.

The Series: The two teams have, surprisingly, only met three times before, with each team gaining a win on the road. Twice the games have gone to overtime, including last year's match up, which was one by the Knights in the 92nd minute on a John Furcick penalty kick.

Key Stats for Clarkson (2-0-0): The Golden Knights nearly came up empty last year despite dominating the game, outshooting Utica 18-6. However, sophomore Mack Walton scored in the 68th minute to tie the game, setting up Furcick's heroics. Walton had a solid start to his second collegiate campaign this past weekend, scoring once and setting up another goal. However, juniors Aidan Subra and Henry Gomez are both ahead of him in the scoring department for the Knights. Subra scored twice and assisted on two others, while Gomez produced a pair of goals with one assist.

Key Stats for Utica (1-1-0): The Pioneers have outshot their opponents 29-12 through two games, though a 16-2 advantage against D'Youville skews that stat considerably. Clarkson will want to keep an eye on Julian Fonseca, who has been a part of all three Utica goals this year, scoring twice and assisting on the other. Jonathan Side has stopped six of the eight shots he has faced and has a 1.00 goals against average. He stopped more shots (seven) in last year's loss to the Knights.
