The Series: Clarkson and Skidmore combined for six Liberty League titles from 2005-2012, with the Thoroughbreds winning four championships, but while Clarkson has continued to reach the conference tournament Skidmore has dropped off. The Knights have won 10 straight games against Skidmore, including six shutouts since 2014. Clarkson swept a weather shortened two-game set last year 8-0 and 2-0. The Thoroughbreds' last victories came in 2013 when the two teams split a four-game set.

Key Stats for Clarkson (8-10 overall, 3-5 Liberty League): The Golden Knights have generally led by their pitching staff, despite it allowing a .304 batting average to its opponents. Clarkson does a good job of limiting free opportunities, ranking second in the nation in walks per nine (1.91) as a staff and striking out 3.6 hitters for every walk allowed. At the forefront of those statistics is senior Will Coleman, who has allowed just one walk against 24 strikeouts in 21 innings pitched to go along with a 1.29 earned run average. Classmate Andrew Smith leads the team with 26 innings pitched and he, too, has allowed only one walk. Clarkson also limits extra bases, as the pitchers and catchers have combined to allow only 10 stolen bases in 141 innings, catching nine would-be base stealers in 19 chances. The Knights' catchers have also allowed no passed balls and pitchers have unleashed just seven wild pitches in 2018.

Key Stats for Skidmore (11-15 overall, 6-10 Liberty League): Skidmore's top two pitchers in terms of earned run average are not surprisingly a pair of relievers, but both have put in a fair amount of work this season. Andrew Aikins has just a 1.06 ERA in 10 appearances, striking out 22 in 17 innings pitched, while Jacob Berish has a 3.20 ERA in nine appearances, which includes three starts, though that mark drops to 1.86 when considering only his six games of relief. Will Potters leads the team on offense with a .352/.431/.443 slash line and Shawn Klier has driven in 20 runs on .301/.441/.493 production. Skidmore has been thrown out only five times, plus one pick off, in 37 steal attempts this season.
