Knights Claim Four-Set Win Over Potsdam

Potsdam, NY – A rocky second set kept the Clarkson University Volleyball team from a sweep, but the Golden Knights nevertheless kept their winning streak alive with a four-set win over SUNY Potsdam, 25-14, 15-25, 25-21, 25-23, Tuesday night.

The Golden Knights improved to 14-9 with the victory and head into the weekend with a three-match winning streak. Potsdam dropped to 11-16 on the season.

In the opener, Clarkson fell behind by two points (9-7), but the offense came alive and helped push the Knights to a 16-11 advantage, forcing Potsdam to take a timeout. Five more points pushed the Clarkson lead to 10 and the Knights held on for a double-digit win.

During the second set, Clarkson struggled in all facets of the game, giving Potsdam 19 of its 25 points with errors all around. However, Clarkson recovered in the third and fourth sets, producing some of its best offensive numbers of the season. In the third set, the Knights produced 16 kills against two errors in 35 swings, and in the fourth Clarkson scored 19 kills with only five errors on 53 attacks.

Meghan Edmund delivered a double-double with 16 kills and 30 digs, recording at least six digs in each of the four sets. Rachel Reusch hit .500 in the match, scoring 22 kills with just two miscues in 40 attacks, while Kendal Cheval scored 12 kills and 14 digs. Amanda Collins ran the offense to the tune of 58 assists and Kate Isaksen tossed in 32 digs. In just two sets, Megan McEwen had four blocks, including two solo efforts.
