CU Men's Soccer Preview - at Utica College (9/6)

For the first few weeks of the season, the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team will play the part of road warriors, but the good news is that after Wednesday's game at Utica College, the Golden Knights will already be halfway through the six-game run.

The Series: The Golden Knights are winless in two all-time meetings against Utica (0-1-1) when the two teams matched up in a reciprocation series in 2011-2012. Clarkson is scoreless in 200 minutes against the Pioneers, but Utica hasn't fared much better, scoring just once in the two games.

Key Stats for Clarkson: Senior Kevin Calnan has started off the season in fine form, scoring four times in just two games, a figure that, not surprisingly, leads the Liberty League. He scored five goals in all of 2016, a season in which he earned Liberty League First-Team All-Star honors. Calnan has been particularly efficient, scoring his goals on just six shots.

Key Stats for Utica: The Pioneers have held their first two opponents scoreless with Jonathan Side making 13 saves in the opening weekend. Both of Utica's goals this year have come in the second half, with one score being tallied in the 87th minute. Alex Purcell and Salvatore Cabibbo are the team's lone goal scorers thus far.
