Knights Drop 2-1 Decision in Overtime to RIT

Rochester, NY – With a goal in the first 10 minutes of the game, the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team led for the majority of Saturday's contest with RIT, but a goal midway through the second half tied things up and an overtime goal by the Tigers sent the Knights to their second straight league loss.

The Golden Knights moved to 5-5-0 on the season and 1-2-0 in the Liberty League, and they will get a week to regroup before taking on Hobart College next Saturday at Hantz Turf Field. The Tigers picked up their first league win of the season and moved to 3-5-1 overall and 1-2-0 in conference.

Sophomore Stephen Klimek knocked in his first goal of the season at the 9:56 mark off a pass from classmate Aidan Subra, pushing his shot into the right side of the goal to give the Knights the early lead. However, Clarkson's true chances were few and far between for the remainder of the half, as only Brian Kroetz was able to get another shot off for the Knights in the 38th minute, while Mack Walton served in a corner kick in the waning seconds of the half.

Fortunately for the Knights, RIT wasn't getting much in the way of chances either, but the Tigers did finally break through in the 72nd minute when Anthony DeFeo found Dean Kouroupas for his second goal of the season. Following the goal, the Tigers only had one more shot and two corners the rest of the half, while Clarkson was held to just a single corner kick.

Overtime was a different story for the Tigers. RIT was able to get a couple chances near the Clarkson frame, but it wasn't until the last minute that the Tigers could end the game before a second extra session. Adam Bem was able to get free in the box and scored off a pass from Joey Gianakopoulos at the 99:28 mark.

Ian Roeloffs denied two shots for the Golden Knights, while Peter Cinibulk made a single save for RIT. The Tigers held a 9-3 edge in shots and an 8-2 lead in corners.
