CU Men's Lacrosse Preview - at Plattsburgh State (3/7)

Off to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2012, the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team will be facing another unbeaten team on Tuesday afternoon when they travel to face Plattsburgh State in non-league action.

The Golden Knights began 2012 with four straight wins, but to match or surpass that run won't be an easy task with the Cardinals on the slate. Plattsburgh has won four straight against Clarkson and has lost just once in the last seven meetings against the Golden Knights. Last year, the Cardinals came away from Potsdam with a 12-6 win over the Knights, despite three goals from Ryan St. Croix and two more from Kyle Brown.

Clarkson has outscored its two opponents by a combined 28-12 through 120 minutes, thanks to a large margin on face offs (33-for-42). Ryan Gabriel (21-for-28) and Kevin Munn (9-for-11) have done the most damage at the 'x' for Clarkson, and Gabriel leads the team with eight groundballs in the early going. Another key for the Knights has been the play of goalkeeper Nick Strandholm. The Liberty League Defender of the Week, Strandholm has posted a 5.33 goals against average through 90 minutes and is stopping close to 70% of the shots he has faced. Offensively, freshman Conor Bartlett leads the team with eight points on four goals and four assists, but three other players have also scored four goals for the Knights. Kyle Brown, Ryan St. Croix and Ryan DaRin have each found the net on four occasions.

For Plattsburgh, juniors Donald Tesoriero and Austin Graham have been splitting time in the crease. Tesoriero is owns a 5.00 goals against average with a .688 save percentage, while Graham has worked fine in relief with a 7.00 goals against average and a .682 save percentage. Plattsburgh has outscored its two opponents 34-12, and half of its goals have come from two players. Ryan Hubbard, who scored four times in the win over the Knights last year, leads the team with 10 goals, having tallied on 62.5% of his shots on goal. Ryan Callahan leads the team in scoring with 12 points on seven goals and five assists. Plattsburgh has also enjoyed a solid run at the 'x' so far. Joe Eiseman is 14-for-23 on face offs and Travis Mauro's rate is just slightly behind at 12-for-21.
