Hoping to end 2017 with a win, the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team will close out the non-league portion of its schedule on Saturday when the Golden Knights take on North Country rival Plattsburgh State.

Live Stats/Live Video

The Series: The Golden Knights trail 23-25 in the all-time series against Plattsburgh, but the Cardinals have dominated over the last 15 years. Plattsburgh is 9-1 against Clarkson since Tom Curle took over as head coach for the Cardinals in the 2003-04 season. The Knights last came away with a win during the 2008-09 season.

Key Stats for Clarkson (4-4): The Knights rank 21st in Division III in both 3-point field goal percentage (41.8%) and 3-pointers made per game (11.1), and both figures lead the Liberty League.  Sophomore Matt Higgins (43.8%) and junior Matt Hornak (42.6%) rank in the top four in the conference in 3-point field goal percentage, while junior Liam Ellis is shooting 50.0% from beyond the arc but doesn't quite have enough makes to qualify for the league's leaderboard. Higgins, Ellis and junior Malaquias Canery are averaging 10 points per game or more for Clarkson.

Key Stats for Plattsburgh State (4-4): The Cardinals are 3-1 in the SUNYAC, but have won just once in non-league games so far this season. Eli Bryant plays the same amount of minutes as many starters, but the senior guard leads the team in scoring despite being the first man off the bench. Bryant is averaging 23.0 points per game in games as a reserve and just 7.5 points per contest as a starter. Overall, he is shooting 40.0% from the 3-point line and 86.5% from the free throw line with 18.6 points per game. Chris Middleton is second on the team in scoring at 11.9 points per game (14.0 ppg over the last six contests) and Ian Howard is the top rebounder with 8.8 rebounds per game, with 31 offensive rebounds overall.
