CU Men's Soccer Playoff Preview - at RIT (10/31)

It has been 19 years since the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team was last in the postseason, but the Golden Knights will be looking for a lot more than just one game in the Liberty League Playoffs, and the Green and Gold will start what they hope will be a long run against RIT on Tuesday morning.

LIVE STATS - 11:00 am

The Series: Just 32 seconds remained in the first overtime when the Tigers picked up their 24th win in the series just a month ago, gaining a 2-1 victory against the Knights. RIT leads 24-20-4 over Clarkson in the series, but the Golden Knights are winless since 2010, the year before the Tigers joined the conference.

Key Stats for Clarkson (8-7-2, 4-3-2 Liberty League): After being carried on offense by senior Kevin Calnan in the first two games of 2017, have seen 11 different players score at least one goal. Stephen Klimek scored Clarkson's lone goal against the Tigers on September 30, and the sophomore also scored the game-tying goal for the Knights against Rensselaer on Saturday. Junior James Homan didn't score a goal, or even a point, in his first 42 career games, but he now has two goals in his last three games.

Key Stats for RIT (7-5-3, 5-2-2 Liberty League): The Tigers may have just seven wins on the season, but the team is currently riding a seven-game unbeaten streak (5-0-2) that just happened to begin with their overtime victory over Clarkson. In that stretch, RIT has scored 22 goals, more than Clarkson has recorded all season. Dean Kouroupas ranks second on the team in scoring with 14 points, but has five goals and two assists in his last six games, including a goal versus the Knights on September 30. Simon Garno also has a goal and seven assists in October alone.
