After falling a season high eight games under .500, the Clarkson University Baseball team has won nine of its last 11 games to get back within striking distance of an even record. The Golden Knights currently sit in a tie for second place in the Liberty League and will try to improve their conference record by hosting Skidmore in a four game series this weekend.

Clarkson is 12-13 overall and 7-5 in conference. The Green and Gold are tied with RIT and Rochester for second place in the Liberty League and trail Union who is 9-3. Clarkson played its first home games of the year on Tuesday when fourth ranked Oswego came to town. Oswego was riding a 15 game winning streak, the longest in the country, but Clarkson ended that with a stellar offensive performance. The Golden Knights laid 12 runs on the Lakers to earn a 12-7 win. Although Clarkson could only muster two runs in the second game against Oswego, falling 8-2, Clarkson immediately bounced back with a 19-8 drubbing of SUNY Canton.

Clarkson is the second best hitting team in the Liberty League, hitting .307 as a team. Leasing the way is Chris Miller, who leads the team in batting average (.440), slugging percentage (.648), and on-base percentage (.509). Miller is second in the Liberty League in runs scored with only teammate Anthony Padrazo having scored more times this season. Also near the top of the Liberty League charts is Greg Jasek who is tenth in batting average and second in runs batted in. Will Coleman and Brad Pearson are tied for fifth in the conference with a pair of triples. Connor Martin and Dom Pirro both make appearances on the hit by pitch list, with Martin getting plunked five times and Pirro wearing four of his own. Martin has also only struck out five times, the third lowest total.

Three different pitchers got the starts during the week. Mike Bubniak started the first game against Oswego and earned the first win of his collegiate career. Rory Corcoran made his second start of the year in the second game against Oswego and Joe Rooney got the win against Canton on Wednesday. The top two pitchers for Clarkson are Ian Castle and Ted Wilson who have ERA's of 1.55 and 1.82 respectively. Coleman is eighth in the league with 30 strikeouts.

Skidmore is the only Liberty League team with a better batting average than Clarkson as the Thoroughbreds are hitting .308. However, Skidmore is just 10-17 on the season with a 5-11 conference mark. Last weekend, Skidmore split a four game series with St. Lawrence with the Thoroughbreds winning the opener of both Saturday and Sunday's doubleheader. They then dropped a 11-4 decision to Williams College on Wednesday.  Josh Brown trails only Miller in the Liberty League in slugging percentage as Brown has a .622 mark and has 11 doubles and four home runs. Andrew Aikins leads the team with three wins on the mound.

First pitch will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday and 12:00 noon on Sunday in Jack Phillips Stadium.
