Clarkson Falls to Brown in Men's Hockey Action on the Road

A slow start on the road doomed the Clarkson University Hockey team in Providence, RI on Friday night as the Golden Knights lost at Brown 5-2 in ECAC Hockey action.

With three games remaining in the regular season, 20th-ranked Clarkson stands at 16-12-3 overall and is tied for seventh place in the ECAC Hockey standings with an 8-8-3 league mark, three points out of fourth. The Green and Gold play at 8th-ranked Yale on Saturday in New Haven, CT for their final road game of the regular season.

Brown (5-16-5, 3-12-4) built a 3-0 lead just over six minutes into the game and made it 4-0 after the opening 20 minutes. The four goals were the most allowed by the Knights in a period this season.
 
Tyler Bird got things started for the Bears at 1:28 followed by goals from Tommy Marchin at 5:49 and Zack Pryzbek at 6:18. Nick Lappin made it 4-0 at 18:14.
 
Senior Jeff DiNallo got the Knights on the scoreboard early in the second period with his third goal of the season, a breakaway tally at 4:56. Sam Vigneault and Dylan Gareau assisted on the goal, which extended DiNallo's point streak to five games with his first goal since January 3.
 
At 16:52 Clarkson connected for another breakaway goal when junior Jordan Boucher finished off a stretch pass from Vigneault for his sixth goal of the season.  Sophomore defenseman Kelly Summers also assisted.
 
Brown, however, scored its fifth goal early in the final frame en route to its first victory since January 3, snapping a 10-game winless skid (0-8-2). Alex Brink scored for the Bears at 2:07.

Clarkson outshot Brown 28-26. The Knights 0-of-2 on the power play, while the Bears were 0-of-3

Senior Greg Lewis made his 13th consecutive start in the Knights' crease, but did not last long allowing three goals on the Bears' first seven shots before being replaced by junior Steve Perry. Perry finished with 17 saves on 19 shots through 52 minutes of action.

Tim Ernst made 26 stops for Brown.
