Game Recap: Men's Hockey | | February 14, 2015

League-Leader Quinnipiac Hands Clarkson 4-1 Road Loss

Its longest road trip of the season did not go as planned for the Clarkson University Hockey team as the Golden Knights fell to ECAC Hockey leader Quinnipiac 4-1 in Hamden, CT on Saturday.

Clarkson, which lost 2-1 to last-place Princeton in New Jersey on Friday, own a 11-15-4 overall and to 8-8-2 in the conference. With four game remaining the Green and Gold stand in a tie for seventh place in the 12-team league. One point out of sixth, four points shy of falling to ninth. The Knights play their final regular-season games in Potsdam next weekend when they host Harvard and Dartmouth.

Much like Friday night's game in New Jersey, Clarkson played a strong first period to take a 1-0 lead. An extra-attacker goal by freshman Janick Asselin on a quick turnaround shot at 8:06 gave the Knights the lead.  Sophomore Jordan Boucher and junior Jeff DiNallo assisted on the rookie's fourth goal of the year.

The Bobcats (20-8-2, 15-2-1) evened the game at 14:42 with a power-play goal right off a faceoff win. Travis St. Denis connected for the man-advantage marker just six seconds into Quinnipiac's second power play of the game.

The Bobcats scored twice in a 26-second span early in the second period, moments after junior Greg Lewis turned aside a penalty shot attempt, to gain the momentum.

Quinnipiac added its fourth goal late in the final frame to close out the win.

The Bobcats outshot the Knights 32-22.

Lewis made 28 saves, including the penalty-shot stop.
