Godin's Goal Not Enough as Clarkson Loses to RIT 2-1

Although senior Zachary Godin scored a penalty kick for the third consecutive game, the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team lost to RIT 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Clarkson's record is now 4-7-1 overall and 1-3-0 in the Liberty League while RIT is 5-7-0 overall and 2-2-0 in conference games.

RIT was the first to score. Akram Meza's pass found Luke Dorsey who scored from point blank range.

Clarkson tied the score in the 38th minute. For the third straight game, the Golden Knights were awarded a penalty kick and for the third time in a row, it was Godin who stepped up and buried the spot kick. It is the sixth goal of the season for Godin, which is a new career high.

The game-winning goal came in the 57th minute. Adam Bem's cross found the head of Scott Fishel who scored.

RIT finished with a 16-7 edge in shots and a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks. Michael King made six saves for Clarkson while Peter Cinibulk made one stop for the Tigers.

The Green and Gold will return home for two Liberty League games next weekend. First Clarkson will host Union in a 4:00 pm game on Friday followed by a 2:00 pm game against Rensselaer on Saturday afternoon.
