Reigning ECAC Hockey Player of the Week, sophomore Juana Baribeau (Amos, QUE), and the conference’s Goaltender of the Week, junior Lauren Dahm (Baldwinsville, NY) played leading roles in the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team’s first road win of the year, a 4-0 victory at the University of Vermont on Friday night.
Baribeau tallied two goals and Dahm posted her second straight shutout and 12th career whitewash with a 32-save effort as the Golden Knights won their third straight game.
Ranked 4th in the nation, the Green and Gold will look to improve upon their 4-0-1 record when they close out the weekend series in Burlington with a 4:00 p.m. game against the Catamounts on Saturday.
Clarkson, which improved its record to 12-0-1 against Vermont, took a 2-0 lead on goals by junior Melissa Waldie (Newmarket, ONT) and Baribeau 1:57 seconds apart midway through the stanza.
After a scoreless second period, the Knights added two more goals over the final 20 minutes as senior captain Britney Selina (Thornhill, ONT) and Baribeau found the back of the net.
Senior transfer Dominique Thibault (L’Original, ONT) posted two assists, while classmate Genevieve Lavoie (Delson, QUE) became the third Golden Knight to join the Century Club, recording one assist in the win. Through 114 career games, Lavoie has registered 100 points on 43 goals and 57 assists.
The Catamounts out shot Clarkson 32-29. The Knights went 1-of-2 on the power play, while UVM was scoreless in six man-advantage opportunities.
