Knights Suffer 6-0 Loss at Fourth-Ranked William Smith

Geneva, NY - Over the past few years, the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team has made great strides against national power William Smith College, nearly upsetting the Herons in 2008. However, William Smith is back among the nation's elite and proved why on Saturday with a 6-0 shutout victory over the Golden Knights.

Clarkson fell to 2-9-1 overall and 0-5-0 in Liberty League action while the fourth-ranked Herons moved to 9-2-1 overall and 4-0-1 in confernce games. The Knights take a brief break from conference action next weekend when they visit St. John Fisher College.

William Smith picked up two goals in the first half, one coming on a penalty kick and another midway through the half. The Herons tallied four more times in the second half, including one insurance goal in the final three minutes.

Clarkson trailed in shots 29-5 and in corner kicks 5-0. Stephanie Collins (Colton, NY) made 14 saves for the Knights while three different goalkeepers combined for the shutout for William Smith, with Amanda Davis playing the first half, making two saves.
